ENLL Majors All Star Updates

July 12th, 2009 - The ENLL Majors came up just short in the Championship game by a score of 10-8 against Carmel Mountain Ranch.  CMR jumped out to a 7-0 lead after 4 innings but the kids from ENLL fought back to tie the score in the top of the 5th.  The rally was led by a 3-run John Aiken home run as well as a solo shot by Shane Potter.  Nick Theriault and Carter Roberts also provided key hits.  CMR then came back in their half of the inning with a 3-run homer to take a 10-7 lead into the 6th.  ENLL then rallied again behind hits by Lucas Savoy and Kaleb Woodworth sandwiched around a walk to Shane Potter and John Aiken getting hit by a pitch.  This produced one run but the rally ended with CMR coming out on top by a final score of 10-8.  Congratulations to all of the boys for a great tournament.

July 11th, 2009
- The ENLL Majors team advanced to the District 31 Championship game with a 10-5 win over Del Mar American on Saturday.  Kaleb Woodworth, Carter Roberts and Conner Reed provided the pitching keeping Del Mar in check for most of the game.  The ENLL bats kept producing with big home runs from Kevin Alazard, Shane Potter and Conner Reed.  The web gem in the field was provided by Kevin Alazard with a bases loaded backhand grab on a hard grounder at third to end a Del Mar rally.  The team now plays in the District 31 Championship Game Sunday at 4:00pm against Carmel Mountain Ranch.  The game is at Tierra Bonita Elementary School in Poway.

July 8th, 2009 - The ENLL Majors advanced to the District 31 Semifinals with a 6-1 win over Encinitas Little League on Wednesday.  Shane Potter led the way with another dominant pitching performance.  Shane went 5 2/3 innings with Carter Roberts coming in to record the final out.  The offensive punch was contributed by many with clutch hits from Nick Verzella, Sean Theriault, A.J. Hofstetter, Kaleb Woodworth, Conner Reed and Ben Hutter.  The team plays Saturday at 1:00 in the semifinals at Tierra Bonita Elementary School in Poway.

July 5th, 2009 - The ENLL Majors All Stars won all three of their pool play games to earn a #1 seed going into the quarterfinals.  The third win came on July 5th via a 4-0 win over Poway National.  Kaleb Woodworth pitched a dominant game going 5+ innings allowing only 1 hit.  Kevin Alazard continued his hot hitting with a 2 run home run in the 2nd inning to get ENLL on the board.  ENLL now plays Encinitas Little League in the District 31 quarterfinals on Wednesday July 8th at 5:30.  The game is at Tierra Bonita Elementary School in Poway.

July 22nd, 2009 - The great run for the 11 year olds All Stars ended on Wednesday night in the Championship game of the Section 6 tournament.  The boys lost to Vista National 9-5.  Vista jumped out to a 5-0 lead but ENLL fought back to tie the score 5-5 in the 3rd inning led by a 3-run Jack Dashwood home run.  The Vista bats just kept plugging away as they pulled away in the 5th inning.  The kids brought home the District 31 banner this year and represented the league great throughout the All Star season.  
 

July 21st, 2009 - The ENLL 11 year old All Star team keeps rolling.  They won Tuesday night by a 6-2 score over Vista National.  Ethan Abrams once again pitched a complete game gem.  Ethan kept the Vista hitting off balance the entire game.  Ethan was also helped with some stellar defense including two double plays.  The hitting highlights included clutch hits by Reed LaBar, Anthony Roberts, Van Coykendall and Cristian Hendriks.  The boys now play for the Section 6 title on Wednesday at 6:00 against the same Vista National team.

July 20th, 2009 - The 11 year old All Stars beat Tierrasanta 16-2 Monday night to stay alive in the Section 6 tournament.  Ryan Casper, Anthony Roberts, Reed LaBar and Bucky Hawk provided the pitching keeping Tierrasanta off balance the entire game.  The hitting continued to shine led by home runs from Cristian Hendriks and Ryan Orr.  Drew Jackse, Anthony Roberts, Reed LaBar, Eric Vela, Ethan Abrams, Jack Dashwood, Josh Trup, Owen Ereso, Ryan Casper, Bucky Hawk and Van Coykendall all continued to get hits.  The team now earned a rematch with Vista National on Tuesday night at 6:00.

July 19th, 2009 - The 11 year old All Stars lost a tough 11-7 decision to Vista National on Sunday afternoon.  Vista came with their bats ready as they hit several home runs in the game.  ENLL was down 6-0 going into the 3rd inning when the Encinitas boys started coming back.  With 2-outs and the bases loaded Jack Dashwood connected driving a double into the left field corner driving in 2 runs.  Ryan Casper and Ryan Orr then each drove in a run.  Van Coykendall then came up to the plate and hammered a 3-run homer to left center giving ENLL a 7-6 lead.  Vista then fought back putting up 5 more runs to take the win.  ENLL now plays a must win elimination game on Monday at 6:00pm against Tierrasanta.  The winner will play Vista National on Tuesday and the loser will go home.

July 18th, 2009 - The 11 year old All Stars won their first game in the Section 6 tournament by a score of 16-7 over Point Loma.  The bats continued to explode all through the line-up.  Key hits were provided by Owen Ereso (4 for 4 with a home run), Ethan Abrams, Ryan Casper, Cristian Hendriks (long drive off the fence in left center), Eric Vela (2 hits), Ryan Orr (2 hits), Anthony Roberts and Jack Dashwood.  Ethan Abrams put together another pitching gem with help from Ryan Casper and Anthony Roberts to close out the win in the 6th.  The team now continues in the winners bracket playing Vista National on Sunday July 19th at 4:00.

July 11th, 2009
- The 11 year old All Stars won the district 31 championship Saturday with a 6-3 victory over a tough Carmel Mountain Ranch team.   Ethan Abrams led the way again with a dominant pitching performance striking out 14 CMR batters in 5-1/3 innings.  Ryan Casper then came in and closed out the win inducing a ground out and then striking out the final batter.  The CMR pitching kept the ENLL bats in check most of the game but key base hit were provided by Owen Ereso, Drew Jackse, Anthony Roberts, Ryan Casper, Ethan Abrams, Jack Dashwood and Ryan Orr.  The team now plays in the Section 6 tournament starting on Saturday 7/18 at 1:00pm at Oceanside American Little League (222 Brooks St, Oceanside).

July 10th, 2009 - The 11's won their District 31 semifinal game against 4S Ranch 17-0.  Jack Dashwood provided a dominant pitching performance in addition to hitting a towering home run in the 5th inning.  Owen Ereso also hit a homer in the 5th.  The bats on the entire team were on fire.  Josh Trup and Ryan Orr both had two hits.  Eric Vela contributed as well with a double into left center.  Web gems in the field were provided by Van Coykendall and Eric Vela with very nice plays at second base.  The team now plays in the District 31 finals at 5:00 on Saturday July 11th at 4S Ranch Community Park.

July 7th, 2009
- The ENLL 11 year olds won their quarterfinal game 11-1 against Poway American Tuesday night.  The pitching and hitting continue to excel.  Ethan Abrams tossed a 1-hitter to gain his second win in the tournament.  The hitting parade started with Owen Ereso leading off the game by driving a double off of the right field fence.  Bucky Hawk followed with a single.  Later in the inning Jack Dashwood connected for a 2-run homer to deep center.  The runs kept coming over the first three innings.  In the bottom of the fourth Van Coykendall connected for a double to the fence in center scoring Ryan Orr from third base for the run giving ENLL the game due to the 10 run mercy rule.  The team now plays in the semifinals Friday night at 6:30 against 4S Ranch.

The ENLL 11 year old All Star team won their first 2 games of the district 31 tournament.  On June 29th they beat Solana Beach 16-0 behind the strong pitching of Ethan Abrams and two home runs by Bucky Hawk.  Key hits were also provided by Cristian Hendriks, Owen Ereso, Reed LaBar, Ryan Casper, Anthony Roberts, Ethan Abrams and Jack Dashwood.  On June 30th the team won a hard fought 5-4 decision over Carmel Mountain Ranch.  Jack Dashwood, Ryan Casper and Anthony Roberts provided the pitching.  Reed LaBar hit a walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning to win it for ENLL.  Ethan Abrams knocked in two runs in the 6th inning as well.  The team will now play in the District 31 quarterfinals on July 7th at 6:30 against Poway American at 4S Ranch Community Park.

ENLL 9/10 Year Old All Star Updates

July 9th, 2009 - The 9/10 team advanced to the District 31 semifinal with a dramatic come from behind victory over Carmel Mountain Ranch.  ENLL went up early with two runs in the bottom of the first led by a triple by Marcus Alazard.  Mickey Moniak pitched a great game keeping CMR off balance all day.  CMR came back and took the lead but ENLL never gave up.  Down 5-3 in the bottom of the 6th, ENLL loaded the bases.  Nick Scheidler then came thru with a clutch double to right center knocking in the tying runs.  Dylan Hadley then hit a single to left scoring Marcus Alazard from third with the game winning run.  The boys now play Rancho Santa Fe in the semifinals on Saturday at 4:00 at Tierra Bonita Elementary School in Poway.

The 9/10 team won their first game by the score of 14-0 over Rancho Bernardo.  Dylan Hadley led the hitting with a double, triple and home run.  Mickey Moniak pitched a complete game for the victory.    
They then lost their 2nd game by a score of 11-10 to Poway American.  Mickey Moniak hit two home runs in the loss and Nick Scheidler hit one.  Even with the loss, ENLL advanced to the quarterfinals on Thursday July 9th at Tierra Bonita Elementary School in Poway against Carmel Mountain Ranch at 5:30.

2009 Leo Mullen Cup

Congratulations to the ENLL Major Red Sox
and ENLL AAA Mets for both winning their 2009
Leo Mullen Cup games against the champions
from Encinitas Little League.  Both games were
very close with the AAA Mets winning a close 6-5
contest against the ELL White Sox.  Leading the
way was Nick Scheidler with a home run and two
shuout innings of releif.  The Major Red Sox also
pulled out a close victory winning 5-4 over the ELL
Indians with a 2 run rally in the bottom of the 6th inning.

a double off the left field fence.
